Cheektowaga – Cheektowaga comes from the Erie-Seneca Indian word, Ji-ik-do-wah-gah, or “place of the crabapple tree”. As one of the largest towns in New York State, Cheektowaga is centrally located in western New York. It is a first ring suburb of the City of Buffalo, with a population of about 88,226 residents, as determined by the 2010 US Census. The Village of Sloan and a portion of the Village of Depew are located with the Cheektowaga borders.
